Abstract

Moringa oleifera leaves have gained significant noticed as a rich source of nutrients and nutraceutical compounds due to their exceptional nutritional composition and diverse bioactive compounds. The leaves are rich in proteins, vitamins, minerals, polyphenols, flavonoids, carotenoids, glucosinolates, and other phytochemicals, while containing relatively low levels of anti-nutritional factors. Many in vitro and in vivo studies have demonstrated their broad spectrum of biological activities, including antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, and anticancer effects, largely assignment to their high concentration of bioactive compounds. As consequenceMoringa oleifera leaves are increasingly being incorporated into functional foods to enhance their nutritional value and wellness benefits. Despite investigation research on the identification and quantification of these compounds, limited information is available regarding their bio accessibility and bioavailability, which are necessary for understanding their physiological effectiveness. This study highlights the current scientific evidence on the nutritional and bioactive composition, bioavailability, health benefits, and applications of Moringa oleifera leaves in functional food products.
